just updated from aera 796 to the Aera 760. lighter and a few new features. ( now 8 user data fields, my favorite so far)
Warning: after updating to version 2.3 software the unit will no longer recognize your computer unless v3 USB ports available. now my computer (perfect for my needs)is Garmin useless. The 760 only comes with one update whereas the 796 gave a whole year. Cheaper cables and no home dock provided. When getting the hard wire kit I plan to mount in portrait mode, old 796 would only fit in landscape
no luck in portrait some back to landscape mount, only issue so far is getting gps data into my dynon d-100
so far a piece of crap, died today WOULD NOT BUY again
FYI I purchased the IFly 740b, I’ve not done a ton of flying with it yet but has been great so far. I plan to use it to feed my D180/D100 setup. It’s also paired with a uAvionics ADS-b. But I haven’t flown my 750 with all of this together yet. Hope to find out soon how it all works!
got it working but never could interface with the d-100 efis, now it forwards flight plan to aera 660 , and then to dynon and autopilot
newest aera 760 software 2.4 fixes usb issue, i can now use with usb v 2.0 computer, also changes NMEA data, so might work with d 100 Dynon now. I bought the 660 to pass data so i wont try rewiring it to data bus. just heads up to prospective buyers
