Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi, All;
I posted this in the open forum because it could apply to all of the high-wing Zeniths.
I have short legs compared to my trunk. As a result, it's a bit of a challenge to get the butt up onto the seat cushion in the (in my case) Cruzer.
Is it possible to put some type of step or even L-extrusion onto the gear leg to provide a C-172-type assist? I realize the brake hose runs on the aft edge of the gear leg, but I was thinking I could split the fairing in two to provide a gap, and run a hose clamp or something around the leg with the hose on top of the clamp.
Thoughts?
Thanks for your input...
Carl

Hello Carl, I'm short and fat and I intend to use a little 4-legged stool to step on getting in with a string on it to pull it onboard after ingress. It will have to be at least a foot tall to get my behind over the door sill. Getting out I can use gravity to slowly slide out and put a foot on the ground. Getting old sucks. Tom
You've got me laughing (with you) at this one. I thought the same thing! I have a nice, sturdy, and VERY lightweight stool with a slot in the middle. I thought I could make-up a strip of aluminum with a hook in the end (kinda like Homebuilt Help uses to snag cables in the fuselage), and just keep it in the baggage compartment. 2 lbs max for it all.
But I'd really prefer to not take that along with me. Hey - waitaminnit.... that would also make a great refueling "ladder", so it might have value after all!
