Anyone have any experience shipping or buying their plane cross country?

Or have any ideas for this?

Thx!

I would be careful about deflating the trailer tires.  Lower than required pressure can cause overheating and failure. Perhaps the tires that should be deflated are the plane's tires.  Just a thought.

A friend of mine trailers helicopters very frequently and I don't think he deflates the trailer tires.  The helicopters do not have tires and just sit on the skids.  I will check with him the next times I see him.

The tires referred to are NOT the trailer tires, but the aircraft tires.   Sorry my post was not clear.

It's been a few years but I had mine shipped from central Tenn. to Eastern Va.  It was cheaper than renting a UHaul, buying gas and hotel room.  I used Tony Partain.  He is in Bend Or. and does a lot of Van's deliveries.  His trucks are routed such that pickups and drop-offs are scheduled all long route, so your plane may be in a trailer with one or two others and scheduling depends on what else has been scheduled along the route.  This make it much cheaper than point-to-point shipping.

I had zero problems.

Thx Ron,

Do u have his contact information?

It's best just to google Tony Partain Trucking.  There is one story of a failure, but I think that is by far the exception to the rule.

Thx Ron,

It came right up and I reached out to him for a rough estimate

I'd like to know how it works out.

I'll let u know. Still waiting on a response.

Hoping he will respond early next week due to holidays.

Thx

Hi Ron,

Just wanted to follow up, they have never responded to my email.

Will try again, but is not looking good

$4200 for cross country shipping.

Tony was a nice guy.

It is a long way. Not saying it's a bad price, but I'm not sure i can make it work at that price
