fellow Jabiruers,

please share comments on this mandatory "Bulk strip" calling to replace through bolts and studs.

Down here in Colombia I am probably the only one flying a 3300 jabiru. I doubt there is any experience in working on these engines.

Not being an LSA built may make any difference? is it really a safety issue? I am close to the 50 hr mark and the engine runs perfectly, no high temps, no vibrations, all parameters ok. (am I kidding my self?)

I would like your comments,

Thanks in advance

What is your engine serial number ??  Does it fall into the group listed 3300A S/No. 637 to 2391or 3300L S/No.001 to 096 ?

If you recently purchased the plane or the engine, are the stud nuts the black 12 point style or are they the gold 6 point type?

I believe that if you had changed the original self locking 6 point nuts to the new style 12 point nuts, you would not have to do anything until you reach the 1000 hour mark. JSB 031-1 dated 14th April 2011 talked about replacing the factory (MS) nuts to the taller 12 point nuts and that you had one year to complete the change. Now, Jabiru is saying that if you did not complete the nut exchange, you must replace the through bolts and studs. JSB 031-2

The removal of the studs is what requires the block to be split.

 Hope this helps, DonB

turn the pistons while your at it , they are in the wrong way around from new .
