Is it just or does this sound like a bad idea? Man-handling a 15 lb water melon in a cramped cockpit sounds challenging. Gawd help someone on the ground who gets hit in the head with one. There is a reason they use flour... I guess it will be fun to watch, though.

Gary, first the watermelons aren’t that big, or heavy. A farmer sells a trailer load of his smallest watermelons that very few people would buy because they’re small Think closer to football size.
The target is set up in an empty spot so no one, or anything is around it. It’s between the ramp and the runway so everyone can watch it.
It is a lot of fun to watch, and this is our 6th year having it. Tompkinsville has had the Watermelon Festival in the town square for 45 years now, and we started the watermelon drop to coincide with that. It’s been a big success.
