Hey there, does anyone here know if the twin landing light kit is retrofittable to a 701. Also has amine here installed landing lights in an already completed plane and if so how bad of a job is it and why's the best way to run the wiring?
Thanks as always, fly often and safe........Steve

Its not hard to do.
We ran the wiring inside the slats and fished them through the wing ribs at a slat attachment point..
I did not install them for night flying specifically, (although they do work well) but for better visibility while flying.

Ive had comments from control towers and other pilots waiting at the hold lines that they could see the wig-wags long before they could see the actual aircraft.
You might consider a simpler solution such as mounting a light on your nose gear. That's what I did, though the lights I used are lousy with too little brightness to be effective. I've recently been trying to come up with a cost effective replacement but it's not easy to get good data on cheaper solutions.
Have a look at some of the LED motorcycle driving lights available on Amazon or other retailers.
Keep in mind that they are not AeroLED Microsun landing lights, but they are also not $200 either.
They are plenty bright for most applications, draw very little power, are weatherproof, and come with mounting and wiring hardware that fit somewhere on most aircraft.
