Hi Aaron, 

I did the splice inside the wing. I ran the wire from the landing light via tubing to the interior of the wing, where I did a permanent connection from the wire that I ran in the larger wing tubing. If something ever happened. I could just clip the wiring at that point. 

Just my personal choice, but I tried to eliminate most of the connectors, such as that one, the fuselage to wing, trim motor, etc. Connectors seem to be the first part of a circuit that fails, and the reality for me is, if I ever have to replace an LED landing light, I'm would have to put a connector on it to match what I have, and it's much easier to just clip the wires and make another permanent connection. 

If you plan on taking wings or elevators off, that's a different matter, but in the few planes I've been involved in recovering, wire cutters and sawzalls were the main tools.

The wires from my landing light were short so I had to make a splice inside the slat.  This also gave me enough wire to make the transition from the slat to the wing near the slat attach bracket.  I wanted the option to remove the slats at a later time so I opted to put another connection inside the wing.  In order to make this accessible without removing the wing tip I installed a George Race (Link to Website) inspection plate in the pilot side wing.  There are pictures on my page.

I also want to eliminate as many extra splice points as I can but an access point would be nice to have in the future if needed.

Although we have not yet completed, we will be attaching weatherproof Seal-All connections between the Slats and Wings.
