landing on frozen lake.

I will be landing on a frozen lake for the first time tomorrow.  The lake has 13 inches of ice and about 1 inch of spotty snow on it.  Any tips or advice you could lend me.  I have a cessna 150 that I feel real comfortable in, and can usually put it down on whatever spot I aim for.

Be cautious of the wind, it will slide you around on smooth ice.  Beware of slush under the snow, it can bury you.   Watch out for cracks, it can bend gear and more.  Oh, and ice blindness can mess with depth perception.  Float pilots familiar with glassy water know about this.  All these can ruin your day.  My two cents.

I do it all the time here in Wisconsin.  Just fly over the area you intend to land on first.  Look for cracks, bulges, slush, old fishing holes, anything that could ruin your day.  Otherwise, have fun, it’s a blast.
