I am having a hard time locating a good Corvair engine core to convert for my CH650 project. I would appreciate any leads anyone has on finding one. Thanks.

I think I can get a Corvair core from a zenith builder I know. What is your budget?
Dan

Depends on the engine. I am looking for a core, not an airworthy engine. If it's 65-69, 110HP heads, no helicoils, etc. I can go a bit higher. Location is important, since shipping engines can be incredibly expensive. East coast, southern would be perfect. Thanks.

hi todd you can try azealea in ga  or on this site has a great deal on a corvair engine with the 5 brg    joe

I will check with Azellea, thanks.

Did you check with Mr. Wynne?

Also I have one with engine and plane attached.  $40K  :-)

LOL, I don't need the attached plane :)

Todd I have a core that I’m not going to use. It has all the main parts I.e. bolts, heads, block, springs etc. I live about 50 miles from Savannah, GA. Let me know if you’re still looking for one and I’ll get some pictures for you and then we can talk about it from there. Larry

Thanks Larry.  I would definitely be interested in learning more about what you have.  If email is easier please feel free to send to toddosborne@gmail.com.

Hello Larry, do you still have your extra Corvair engine core available for sale?

There are several on Barnstormers.  One is for $100.  Just search for "corvair"

Also this one on craigslist  https://missoula.craigslist.org/pts/d/corvair-102-hp-motor/63480965...

Have you tried searchtempest.com  ?  You can search every craigslist city in the US

Todd - I have most of the parts collected to build the 120HP WW Corvair engine.
Some of the parts I have are a billet crank from SPA - Heads refurbished and modified by SPA, cam from WW with pressed on gear and washer.  Oil systems, front generator & a bunch more stuff.   Machined block from WW.  Cylinders, rods, pistons, distributer, valve covers, deep oil pan.

If you are interested, send me an email at stinson97502@gmail.com.   Don't know what lead times are now for these parts, but I had to wait over a year on some of them.

I was just about to build this engine and order a CH750 when another airplane became available, and I just went ahead and bought it.  I still want to build the 750 someday, but would be willing to part with the Corvair at this time.

Regards

Rodney Wren
