For any aircraft model using the Lycoming O-235:

When I sensored up my engine I used a threaded "port" (not sure if that is the right term) on the accessory case just above the right magneto for the oil pressure sensor on my Dynon D-180.

I just happened to be browsing through the Owner's Manual for the O-235L2C and noticed that Lycoming astricked the L model and it says "Front of Engine". for oil pressure location. The max pressure is listed as 90, minimum is 50, and at idle, 15. 

Where, exactly, do they consider "Front of Engine"?

Those of you flying behind an -L model Lycoming, where did you pick off for oil pressure?

Right side of the rear case.

That's where I put mine as well.

Just wondering why Lycoming would astrick it as "front of engine"

Quoting the Description section of the Lycoming manuall, section one says..... "In referring to the location of the various engine components, the parts are described in their relationship
to the engine as installed in conventional airframes. Thus the power take-off end is considered the front and
the accessory drive section the rear. The sump section is considered the bottom and the opposite side of the
engine where the shroud tubes are located is the top."

So, the front and rear are as oriented in your plane - the front is towards the front of the plane, the end of the engine with the propeller on it.
