Moving aircraft outside of the test area prior to the 41st hour?
Here's an interesting set of circumstances to consider:
I have 31 of my 40 phase one test hours completed. My plane (N969BC) is based @ KZPH.
There is a Tropical depression headed our way and it looks like KZPH will fall within the Hurricane/Tropical depression warning area, but just south, where I live, is outside of the warning area.
I could easily fly to KCLW, KPIE, KSPG in an hour but they are outside of my specified phase one test area.
Do I:
1) Request an exception from Tampa FSDO to move the plane to safe harbor for the storm?
2) Leave it in place and make sure my insurance premiums are paid up?
Your Thoughts?

Call FSDO and explain and get their blessing. If they can't come up with an answer fast enough , do it anyways. What good would it do to feel comfortable the FAA didn't take any action against you if you have no plane to fly anyway.
I know the FSDO out here would bend over backwards to help you out, I can't imagine your FSDO handling the situation any different.
