My 0-200, 700 hours since new, I have been using

Phillips 100w for the last couple of years.

I always have some blowby out the vent tube

that gets the bottom of my fuselage oily, not a lot, but enough to

clean after each flight.

I inherited a box of Shell 100w, couple of hours, almost no

blowby.

I don’t see this as a problem, but curious as to how this is

possible.

oil levels are the same, viscosity same, both mineral oils, non synthetic.

Any ideas?

Dave

Interesting.

Running Phillips, perchance did you operate in a more dusty environment that might have just highlighted the blowby?

Nothing has changed

an A & P told me that the shell product contains cam guard, can it possibly work that fast, 2 hours flight time?
