I am strongly considering powder coating my 750. So far I have done the rudder and I am pleased with finished job. The weight added is 1# +/- .1# using a  digital scale. There is a lot of  hearsay as to the weight of powder coating so my question is: does someone out there have accurate information to confirm that powder coat is heavier than paint.Mutiple coats of primer and topcoat plus wax cannot be light, the paint job approximate  is 30#. How many rudder areas are in the rest of the 750 air frame, 30 ?

Another great method for powder coat removal is a propane torch. The stuff was melted on with heat, take it off with heat. Wave a propane torch flame on that area you want to de-powder coat until the stuff gets pliable, then remove it with a wire wheel or wire brush. Comes right off.

Thanks all for effort.

I have learned something about powder coating 6061T6 aluminum, although mine will be partly painted and partly polished when finished.

As a scuba diver I remember when divers started powdercoating their aluminum dive cylinders, and several catastrophic explosions during airfills resulted at dive shops around the country. Needless to say the diving community stop powdercoating their cylinders! Its always easy to buff a surface area that's painted to look for corrosion, and then repaint it as good as new, I would be leery of powdercoating for that reason alone.
