Well, its not really all that hard to remove the wingtip skin or put an access hole there. If i remember correctly, there used to be an access hole in the tip skin so you could get at the strobe power supply that was located out at the wing tip.

Yes, if you want to add an access panel at the wing tip area, that is fine. Make it the same as the aileron bellcrank inspection panel.
The UK LAA instructions are quite good for the installation of the counterweights.

LAA assembly instructions:
24. Adjust balance weights to achieve 100% static balance. This means that with the wings level and the aileron free, the aileron should hang level and the trailing edge not tend to rise or fall of its own accord.

Extra inspection panels can always be added later so I would not be too worried about that.

This question is not directly related to the structural upgrades but on drawings 6-ZU-1 & 6-ZU-4 the fuel sender is shown mounted in the top of the fuel tank instead of the end. Placed in the top makes better sense to me to prevent fuel loss in the event of a major leak.

Is this a drawing error or is it the new placement for the sender?

Phil, That's the old location. That's where mine are. Some people had a lot of trouble getting the connections under the skin to lie flat.

That what I thought but I was a little confused as to why it showed up on the new upgrades. This is why I thought it may have been part of the revision.

For the AMD aircraft, we install the sender on the top. If you are having problems with the side mount, you may want to relocate to the top. However, there are a few disadvantages. Assess panel is very visible and there is not much room between the sender and the wing skin.

Just wanted to confirm that the upgrade package does not require skin replacement. What I mean by this is that the early models of XLs had .016 rear side and bottom skins and at some point, the AMD models were made with .016 or .020 in the wing skins (per Zenith drawing 6N21). I got to thinking that with all the concern over wing strength, the assumption might be that all skins are or should be .025 which clearly isn't the case. Just looking for some clarification.

Thinner skins are fine, especially since we are now adding the "L" angles to the top and bottom skins.

If I change 6-zu-2-7&8 to65-zu-7&8 will that change my nose high attitude alittle or will I just stuff up everything,
and is there anything else I would have to change and why have you changed 6-zu-2-4from the extrusion

I assume you mean 6-ZU-2-6 (front wing upright) from extrusion to the 0.0125 bent aluminum plate.
Scratch builders can still install the extrusion. However, with the extrusion, the fuselage side skin is not at the the same angle. 5 Deg. difference.

Changing 6-ZU-2-7&8 to 65-ZU-7&8 will not change any wing angles.

If you want to change the angle of incidence of the wing to the 650, this is the time to do it. For this, I would suggest that you get the 650 drawings from Zenith. The trailing edge of the wing is moved up. 6-ZU-3-3 needs to be changed to the 650 part etc. The front and rear spar uprights are pitched forward at the top. 6-ZU-3-5 will cover the holes of the side skin that will not be used.

All possible but even more work.
