I thought I would share this powerpoint pdf that I made of the hurricane relief airlift operations running out of the Carolinas.  It is just one person's view of  what was and still is a massive relief effort. CH801 N733YD (aka The Good Ship Rollerskate) did yeoman service on it's tiny scale even if the pilot is now getting a bit long in the tooth for this sort of stuff. The entire operation was massive and run by several organizations. The level of donations and the performance of the people on the ground at both ends restores one's faith in the essential good nature of humanity. There were some issues coordinating efforts between relief organizations, but it all got worked out. If you showed up with a suitable aircraft you could get a load and a destination.  Communications into the delivery areas were limited to none. Often a Helo would go in first and bring back info for fixed wing operations. Some of the airfields had debris on them and limited to 1000' until cleared, but of course that was no limitation for the 801. Things got rolling on Monday and by late Friday virtually all fixed wing operations were wrapped up.  There are still some ongoing Helo operations where there are people and no place to land any kind of fixed wing. And just getting food and water in for the first week is only the beginning of the help that the affected people will need. Some small communities are essentially gone.  So please contribute to the relief efforts when the opportunity arises.
