My first cleaning of the K&P S1 filter installed on my Viking 130 engine.

Easy to disassemble. I cleaned the screen with gasoline and a nylon brush. It also has a built in magnet. Sure beats cutting apart the paper filters.

I've been using the same for three years now. So simple to clean and change.

Full disclosure, there are some purists on the Vans Air Force site that did some real testing on aircraft filters. In terms of absolute particle removal this filter did not score high.

My personal opinion (backed up by nothing at all) is that extremely particles that pass thru the filter may not be a significant problem for the engine. Early lycomings only has a single-pass  screen filter. This filter is far more efficient than that.

Perhaps if you are running a high hp, high performance engine this may not be the best choice, but for my old 0-235 I think it works just fine.
