I seem to have noticed that my engine compartment is hot and it seems like the air is hanging
around the carbs area. I am sure there will be no carb icing for this one , but flying with
carb heat on sure spoils the power. Has anyone put baffles over their 912 Rotax engine to deflect
the air away from the carbs.

Install the carb. drip trays from Rotax... $150 / set of 2. This will act as a heat shield from the exhaust manifold under the carb. and in the event your carb float sticks and overflows it will take fuel away from the source of ignition... the exhaust header. These will also reduce the chance of vapour lock in the carb by boiling fuel in the carb bowl sitting on the taxiway.

Consider adding the Rotax Drip Trays ($150/set) under the carbs, This will help prevent vapour lock from boiling the fuel out of the carb bowls so close to the exhaust manifolds. The tiny 1/8" clear plastic line out of the carb is both the altitude sensing for the diaphram on top of the carb that adjust mixture at altitude and carb float bowl over flow...on to your hot manifold ! That is why the drip trays have a spot to attach a rubber line away from the manifolds and below the firewall. Don't attach or extend the clear line for this purpose below the firewall (its been done) it is a specific length and will screw up carbs if messed with. This line just senses altitude normally, the drip tray takes care of the fuel if it ever over flows (floats stuck).
Add Firesleeve to all your fuel lines to help keep them cool to prevent fires and vapur lock..
