We have been hard at work developing an Oil Thermostat kit for the Rotax 912 engine. Right now, we have a complete firewall forward installation package available for the RV-12 aircraft and will be adding other aircraft models in the future.

The benefit of this partial bypass thermostat is that warmup time in cold temperatures is cut in half. In addition, we are able to maintain oil temps in the 190 range even on long low power descents. This is a huge benefit for those flying in cooler weather climates, and will help to maintain temps and the longevity of the engine. Our hoses are lightweight and the net gain in weight for the RV-12 was only around 1.5lbs for the complete kit.

We are currently seeking some Zenith aircraft owners in various models to work with us to develop an installation package.  The kit is all done, but we just need to verify the dimensions of the hoses as some of them will be slightly different than in the RV-12. The cost of this kit is in the neighborhood of $700 with EVERYTHING needed. However, we will be offering nice discounts for the first group of people who contact us to help with these kits.
