Seat Ideas for STOL 750
We are looking for seat ideas for our 750. We have the zenith adjustable seats and back just looking at ideas for padding or covering without breaking the bank.

Do you have a link or brand/model number you used? Just doinga quick search, it seems the ones I found all have the hinges attached already; if you used these, how did you fit with the Zenith seat back, etc.?

Picked up mine @Bass Pro Shop, around $50.00 each. Many other places have similar seats, even Wal Mart. Hard to get somthing on line because some can be heavy. I didn't use any of the Zenith seat parts.
Tomorrow I'll go by the hanger and take a picture to post.

I made my own, but they were not that much cheaper than having your local upholstery shop make some for you or purchasing from Zenith. My blog on making seats is here:

The seat is a very critical safety part. I love these ideas and they look great but when you are selecting these boat type seats, pay attention to their construction. If the seat back structure were to fail, for example on takeoff, it can be a big issue. Cessna has had issues with worn out seat rails and resulted it the seat sliding back on rotation with bad results. There was a P-51 at an air race that had its seat back break and it ended bad.
Having said that, I have seen some beefy boat / lawn mower type seats that looked like they were built better than my 750 factory type seats.
Maybe I am at times a bit too safety minded, but I thought I would mention it in case some hasn't thought about it.

For what it is worth ... I was pilot flying out of Jackson, MS on a commercial flight on a DC-9. On rotation, my seat slid full aft because it was worn. Fortunately, I have gorilla arms and was able to keep control of the aircraft. A shorter person might have encountered serious issues, and I had another pilot next to me that could have taken the controls and kept us flying. Something to consider when you think about your seats.
