On to the next step--paint!
I am now grappling with addressing paint and finish. Since I live in Tampa I (we, the aviation community here in Florida and other ocean-front states) are always grappling with corrosion. Since it took 10 yeasrs to build the plane I have some surface corrosion on the skin I have NOT seen any evidence of corrosion at the rivet holes and I applied CORTEC rather liberally or the mated pieces, so I think the biggest issue will be prepping the surfaces for paint.
I have arranged to use an auto paint booth and I am lucky enough to have a painter with aviation painting experience, although I think he's strictly automotive at this time. What kind of product do I need to use to address/neutralize the surface corrosion? does the plane just need a good sanding with a very fine grit paper? (there is no pititng that I can see with the naked eye) or will it need to be chemically prepped as well?
And just to set the discussion parameters, polishing is NOT an option for me
Your Thoughts?
P.S. I appreciate all of the well-wishes after my first flight. It's heartwarming to know that we builders-all of us, really are not out here alone, even if it seems that way at times.

I looked at Aircraft Spruce and see "Aluiprep" (PN 09-01620) and "Alodine 1201" (PN 09-01618) and it sounds like this is the prep system of choice. has anyone else used this?
