Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
I should have started a new thread earlier, instead of "hijacking" Carl's thread about his transponder wiring.
I was showing a stuck mic, with the Garmin GMA 340 Audio Panel "com" switches blinking. After 30 seconds, the SL 30 gave me the "stuck mic" message.
I disconnected the PTT and still got the stuck mic indications, so it wasn't the ptt. I checked all the headset mic jacks, and didn't find anything wrong.
I removed the audio panel so I could access the rear connectors, which would let me check individual wires for a ground caused by a cut or chafed wire. However, before I started checking wires, I sprayed electronic cleaner on the connectors on the back of the panel, and the pins (plugs) on the back of the tray. I let this dry for about 15 minutes, and put the audio panel back in.
YAY!!! No more stuck mic.
Tomorrow, I'm going to get my control stick back together, and the ptt wires reconnected. This issue, plus finishing the condition inspection today hasn't tested my patience. It's allowed me to learn more about this plane.
