Hello everyone, my name is Adam.

I am in prosses of building my Zenith 701. I will be using ULPower 260is. Has anyone on this forum used Viking fuel system with their ULPower engine? I plan on using it on my 260is and looking for some feedback. Thank you in advance.

Regards,

I can't imagine why anyone would want to use one manufacturer's engine and a different fuel delivery system.  It's always best to use the fuel system that is designed for the engine.  Are the fuel pressure and flow requirements the same?

Of all modifications, fuel system mods are by far the most complex, and can be the most dangerous.

He's not talking about modifying the engines fuel system, but instead about using Vikings fuel delivery system.  If it's better, then why not?  I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Hello Mel,

Yes the fuel pressure and flow requirements are the same. The main reason for my change is that my pumps should be replaced anyway. With this header system I will get new pumps and eliminate the need for LH tank and RH tank fuel valves.

We have over 10 people that have done it now, for the past couple years and working like a champ. Hopefully someone can chime in - I think one or two of the people are on this forum.

Adam,

You could use most of the 650/750 firewall forward kit, except for the cowling and engine mount.  But, because the ULPower engine is fuel injected you'll need to run fuel lines back to the wing tanks or back to a header tank.   Is the header tank the reason you're interested in the Viking fuel system?

Hi Timothy,

I decided to change the fuel delivery system because I bought my engine used and I'm not sure exactly how old my current fuel pumps are. Yes I do like the header tank system and I like that the pumps are integrated in it.

Not only that, but the Viking fuel pumps will likely draw a fraction of the amps, and you can better monitor an extreme low fuel situation with that header tanks fuel sender.

Hi Loren,

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I forgot to mention the amp factors and fuel monitoring features. The fuel sender in the Viking system is much more accurate and once the sender starts dropping from full this lets me know that my main tanks are empty and I only have 2.5 gallons in the header tanks. I believe this is and extra safety feature.
