Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi, all;
I'm getting ready to finally start assembling my O-200 when some final parts come in.
First a little background: In a former life, I was a professional wrench for a Chrysler Plymouth dealer in the 70's. The days of Hemi 'Cudas, RoadRunners, GTX, etc. I've overhauled more auto engines than I can recall. I also built an AeroVee (VW) for my Sonex a few years ago. I'm comfortable with tools.
Just looking for tips on some of the O-200/TCM subtleties. Any sequence issues I should watch out for? I have the manual, have read it several times over the past 2 years, I have the O-200 overhaul DVD and have watched that a few dozen times.
So...what tripped you up / made you think / caused consternation?
Thanks for any input!

Hi Carl,
I'm "gearing" up to put mine together too. I bought the various sealants as mentioned in the M-0 manuals. You probably know this already but there is the old overhaul manual and then there is replacement information in the M0 series of manuals. I could send you them if you don't have already. As an example it shows what sealant to use on each half and updated torque values.
Thanks! But I do have the most current M-O books.
Continental recommends using Locktite 515 and its corresponding anerobic accelerator spray for gaskets Carl. Gasket gets coating while metal mating surface get a quick drying coat of the spray. Only the anerobic area hardens so the external ooze remains tacky but inside the sealer has hardened. An alternate is Yamahabond #4.
