I have a CH601XL which is the single control stick (Y). Can this be converted easily to the twin stick setup?

Yep, pending on what stage of the build you are in. If you are doing the upgrade then the new uprights on the main carry through spar also double as the points to hold the two control sticks on. Depending on your skills/tools you will have to buy the corresponding pieces from Zenith as portions of the steel assemblies will differ.
yep I did it no real problems. Now I have flown with both, would I do it again. not really no real advantages to the twin stick..

Depends on why you want to do it..

The plans are OK to follow, now even easier once you have done the upgrade..

Thanks for the replies guys. Its not so much for me as for the other share holder in the plane. Its mainly for comfort and the fact he's only really flown Cessnas. So a centre stick is new to him. I'm easy with either.

Ade If you have a 601 in your area that has a duel stick option it would be good to sit in it at least. There is not a lot of leg room with the duel sticks especially if your friends have large legs. The center stick gives you a lot more lap space a must for my significant other. If your partner has only flown Cessna's either transition will work. Also the duel stick adds a little more weight to the plane.
.. I have now flown both and I bought the duel stick as I at first thought it was a must. After 1 hour of the Y yoke I nearly sold the duel stick kit. you loose the legroom with the sticks. my knees hit the stick on less than full travel..

Based on what you're saying guys, it looks like I'll stick to the single stick rather than sticking my neck out and going for the twin-stick mod which might get stuck between my legs and end up with me in a sticky situation. !!
many thanks guys

I am converting my twin stick to the center stick. Would you like my twin stick set up? I had them chromed at the harley shop and they look great! Contact me off list at backstagelive@gmail.com.
