Does anyone have the documentation available to "program" the UL350IS can bus into Dynon Skyview?

I have not seen anywhere how to tell the Dynon any of the engine parameters from engine wires. Nothing seems to be intuitive from the EMS program section on the Skyview. Serial port easy. Engine. Not easy.

Maybe I missed something or can't read?

Try contacting Herman at Wheels and Wings, he is a dealer for both UL Power and Dynon and has set up many Zeniths with this combo: Wheels and Wings

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply! I have contacted Herman AND Dynon. I haven't gotten anything concrete from either one. Dynon tech service said they would get me a "program" that I could enter into the Skyview without all the "programming" but that was a couple weeks ago. I thought someone on here would have the parameters and where to enter them so I could just do it manually. I guess the good or bad thing is that my hangar isn't heated, so if I can't go work on the Cruzer sometimes I'm not too upset. The other day it was 26f in the hangar. Today: heatwave! 35f.

Thanks again.

Barry

From reading the manuals, it looks like (maybe I am wrong? but  I think we are thinking the same thing) that if we have the newer UL Power with the engine can bus readout, that it can go directly into the Dynon for engine data (without the Dynon EMS component? and combined with the UL Power aux box for EGT/CHT, but I guess it isn't that simple) :(

Down in Florida it was 78F today but next week we are headed back to cold!

Hi Steve,

Correct. My EGT/CHT read out perfectly, and Dynon had me pin and connect the 2 canbus wires from the UL350IS engine loom into pins 36 & 37 of the EMS 37 pin wiring harness. I did that but there are no further instructions on how those 2 connections make all the engine readings appear on the Skyview screen. I have "CFG" and red X's and no engine parameters, but really nice EGT/CHT readouts. Of course those come from the 25 pin wiring harness, not the 37 pin harness....

We're supposed to get 12-17" of snow from Sunday through Monday evening. I won't be going to the hangar either day for certain.

Thanks  for the comments!

The engine readings don't just magically appear.

You have to go into the Edit screen - for the 100%, 50%, or bottom band EMS screens.   Then when you choose a sensor - scroll down until you find the CAN version of that sensor - and add that to the screen.

You have to do that for every sensor.

If you're still having issues - will you take pictures of your screen so that we can see what you seeing?

Thanks for that info, Greg.

Where did you learn about the screen edit and scrolling that you mention? I must have missed something in the Dynon installation guide. If you could tell me where that is, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Barry

Look in the latest Dynon Installation manual:

https://www.dynonavionics.com/includes/guides/skyview/SkyView_Syste...

Info on ULPower CanBus is on pages 7-42 to 7-47 or so.   Note that you need an EMS-221 for CanBus.   An EMS-220 will not work.

There is additional info starting on 7-104 that covers editing the EMS pages to add sensors.

I don't really remember if I read it anywhere - or just stumbled onto the list of sensors once I started editing stuff on the EMS pages.    I won't be back to the hangar until this weekend, but I could grab a photo if needed at that time.    Let me know.

Oh!   And make sure you update to the latest Dynon software.   The newer versions definitely improve the info that you can get from the engine.

Thanks Greg!

I have read that stuff a couple of times, I guess I am just dense....I'll go over it again.. I do have the new update from Dynon installed. I may not be in the hangar either for a while, no heat in the hangar. It was 26f in there the other day... not fun.
