Some folks have noted that they used slightly undersized piano hinge wire instead of the standard .089 wire for things like cowl installation.

'Spruce only sells the standard wire. If Grainger or McMaster-Carr sell the undersized wire, I sure as certain couldn't find it.

So.... If you've used it, could you provide a hint on what size you used and from whom you purchased?

Many thanks.  So close, yet it these stupid things that slow ya down....

Carl...it's a while since I got it but I did find it on McMaster Carr.  It's not labelled as piano hinge wire and if I recall comes in a coil, not straight, but I may have that wrong.  I think I got a link from the Viking engine forum.  If you search the wire size you're looking for on McMaster you'll likely find it.  Hope this helps...

Hey Carl, We have the undersized pins that work great and full kits with hinges as well. They are cut to 3 ft size lengths and are far more affordable than McMaster. It is an option available :) - Alissa

'Thanks, Alissa;  I'll keep that in mind.

You don't usually bring any of the pin wire to Oshkosh, do you?   ;-)

Hi Carl, suggest try your local model shop for selection from their piano wire range. That’s were I sourced mine. John
