I Found a great alternative to powder coating. Rustoleum appliance epoxy. It comes in a spray can and has a beautiful finish. I used it on some patio furniture and in my opinion its just as tough as powder coat and is way thinner so you dont have the fitment issues. its only about 5 bucks a can, comes in black, white, and brown. I am using it on my stick, gear legs and canopy hardware.

I used this paint (white) to paint an entire fiberglass airplane, and after 10 years, the plane still looked like it was just painted. I bought the "trigger" that attached to the top of the can, so it was similiar to using a spray gun. If I remember, I used a total of about a dozen cans, so it didn't cost much to paint the plane. I sold the plane 7 years ago, and the buyer is still happy with it.
