I am scratch building my zenith 701. I am looking for the best method in drawing the parts on the computer and printing them on paper. What software has builders used and can you send me the link for the download? Thanks for your help.

Paint Scheme

Everyone has been a great help in helping me decide on the best power plant and have given me good input on the different types of aluminum. I have a couple more questions I want to bring to the group.

1. Anyone have any good ideas on a homemade bending brake you could send me? I have checked with local shops and they do not have the 1/8 bending radius set up on their machines. Most have told me unless I am going to have them bend a large amount of aluminum, it isn't work their time to… Continue

2024-T3 alcad aluminum vs 6061-T6

Posted on July 31, 2010 at 10:48am 3 Comments

The plans show an optional material that can be used is the 2024-T3. Has anyone used this in place of the 6061? What are the benefits of it?

Casey - If you can I would suggest you put some 1/8" aluminum on your wood formers to protect the integrity of the size as you make the parts. I especially recommend that on the wing ribs and nose ribs. At very least use a hardwood for the formers.
