James if you look at ski pictures I have in my album... they were made for a Skyboy by a CH701 builder while making a set for his CH701. This summer I will probably build a set for my CH750. If you think skis are a leap of faith, how about the first CH601HD low wing on Amphibian floats? A low wing on floats is actually easier to fly with a lower more stable centre of gravity. Sexier looking to boot!

Sorry I took so long to see your invitation... I am not much of a computer guy. I type with 2 fingers, and one of those is adedicated "shift key" operator.

Did you ever make skis for your CH601HD?
Low snow conditions here in Ontario this winter. I think the CH601HD would perform well on the lake ice and low snow fields.

I also have a CH601HD. I have never tried it on skis, I suspect that the biggest issue is the tendency of the prop in a tractor configuration to pull the nose downward on take-off. Build your skis and try them in low, firm snow conditions or lake ice. If your not happy with the performance you will have set of skis for your CH701 ready to go! My CH601HD thinks its a STOL aircraft with the Rotax 912 engine. You and I talked on the phone about this while I was at Can-Zac last month....if I remember names..getting old.
