Hi Rob

It is a bit early to comment on the effectiveness of the cowl flap due to the winter temps. I did notice an improvement on low speed climb temps last month.

Cooling problems can be hard to crack. The Jabiru  temps will stabilize as the engine frees up with engine time. I would recommend keeping climb speeds above 80 kts till temps stabilize. There is quite a lot of info on this forum. I don't like the washer type CHT  setup. If you don't get the washer fitment exactly central they leak combustion products onto the washer and give a false high reading. I have placed some pictures of the cowl flap on my page.

Rob,

Nice job!!

I have dual sticks, upholstered side panels, long range tanks, Dynon DEK - 180 with EGT and CHT to all cylinders, Garmin 327 Transponder, Icom IC-200 Radio, PS Eng. Intercom, Jabiru 3300, Landing / Taxi Lights, Strobes, ELT, and 3 coats of Stits Urethane Paint. The "Upgrade" added about 26 Lbs. to the empty weight. Being near the coast I primed all interior parts before assembly. Wheel Pants added about 2 lbs. each.
