Thanks Dan!! I will keep you advised.
Hey guys, thanks for comments! Discovered the problem by noting a bit of looseness with the exhaust pipe (more than what seemed allowable with normal flex) Of course I pull the cowls and my hunch (which I dreaded) was correct. I've already got it welded up by a aircraft certified welder. Just waiting on exhaust gaskets to put it back together. Dan- I may take you up on that very generous offer to borrow your dynavibe. I need to figure out how to attach balance weights to the prop flange. I have no spinner back plate, so I'm not certain how to proceed. Robert, I was an early adopter with UL, kind of expected some "teething" issues, but I am getting to the point where I question what else may be presenting as an issue with continuous year round use - hopefully nothing out of the routine ordinary type issues. Since this 2011 year model engine, they have made improvements and the robustness should improve. It helps to have more people flying the engines and gathering some operational time on the engines. I don't think it is too unusual with respect to EABs ,they get some time on them, the minor bugs show up, they need to be resolved and eventually things settle down a bit regarding maintenance issues. I guess we shall find out! I classify myself as a pragmatic optimist - but it sure seems like the Universe is conspiring to keep me off the water with my project. ;)
Hi David,
First, I think you have a very impressive airplane, very professionally done. I just wonder though, is there any chance your engine or prop is out of balance? Knock on wood, but with 105 hours on my 350is, I haven’t found any of the problems your engine seems to be giving you. I really like the engine and hate it when I read about problems which shouldn’t be happening. Hope you have better luck the future!
