Thanks Tim,

I think I'll go your way.  It makes sense to get the rest of the material out of the way before buying a new sheet.

Good luck!

Hello Vincent,

I started with my wing ribs first to learn to bend metal then made pieces and built tail surfaces before going back to my wings.  The pieces in these pics were done to use up much of the material I had on hand left over from tail pieces and wing spars.

As far as order I don't think it matters but since this is my first rodeo I may learn a hard lesson???

Good luck with your build.

Hey Mark,

Still here and making (slow) progress as money & time permit.  Good luck with your build, wish I were near kids and grandkids to get them involved.

Speaking for only myself, I work on one piece of sheet at a time.  In my case I have started with .125 thick and I am going to finish all the thicker (more durable pieces) first.  Once I am below the .050 or .060 thick, I will build and assemble the rudder and horizontal tail pieces and move forward.  Notice how the biggest pieces are usually very thin.  They need to built into an assembly to be more durable once formed.  At least that is my philosophy...

I've always wondered...

Does everybody make all the parts first and them assemble them or build the parts you need to assemble a section (Make the parts for the rudder, assemble.  Make parts for the elevator, assemble and so on)?

I was gonna go the with the second one thinking that having assembled parts once in a while would help my drive.

Tim,

Almost 2 year later, I am just starting a plans built 650.  I don't have this many parts done yet, but my inventory is starting to look similar.  I started with the rudder horn, making it a family project.  My dad as well as my wife and all three boys had a hand in it.

I hope you are still making progress!
