This is a picture of my tablet PC running my custom moving-map software. On the data line near the top of the screen the numbers 48.761, (-)133.744, 7418, 3088 indicate Latitude, Longitude, MSL, and AGL. The Lat/Long give away the location as Glacier National Part in Montana.
At the bottom of the screen is the screen for the software which maintains the internet connection. It is showing a good connection with bytes sent and received from the server in my office. As long as the connection is up, the server knows where the plane is.
