hello
The BMW engine has a characteristic, it has two oil pumps.
A pump for the oil circuit of the engine increases in pressure (7 bar) and a pump that feeds the cooling oil circuit (it does not build up pressure, from 1 to 2 bar). Instead of the sensor probe of original oil pressure, I installed the pressure sensor with the gauge on the dashboard and I also connected the probe there timer.
On "zenith aero" I put a picture "701 BMW1100 engine oil presure probes" on which you can see my setup.
On the oil cooling system I installed the oil temperature sensor. The fuel system (after the pump) I installed the fuel pressure sensor (3 bar).
All works very well.
I do not want to put a large radiator at the front of the fuselage for a fluid form of bonnet. But as I have a large oil cooler, I'll resign myself to install it.
Regards
Guy
About hobs sensor ... just connect hobs meter to fuel pump it working only when engine working and fev second before start engine . Oil sensor i have in oil drain plug .

Gay
In my opinion do not tray to put cooler in engine compartment - i have 3 coolers and not so happy with lot off oil hoses .. My frend with 701 with BMW put cooler on down flusage like P51 Mustag has .. working well even in hot days Try to find there pictures with 601 HD and Subaru engine someone do perfect this . Do not remove oil termostat !! You destroy engine !!
My setup is BMW 1150 85HP duble spark , i change a chip in Bosh Motronik tuned for free intake they claimed 90 HP.. Reduction i has 1:3 but change to 1:2,71 ( beter result with thrust ) Peszke prop from Poland Take off RPM 6400 criuse 5800 to 6000 RPM 700 Hobs total :) Engine is bullet pruff but pay atantion about gear box ...
Regards
Andrzej
Hello Andre
I did some tests in static before mounting on the fuselage and I'm running regularly.
The tests helped me choose the type of silent block, to develop the location of sensors taken oil temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure sensor and the sensor engine hours.
The propeller was obtained from "DUC HELICE" in France. I'm French.
The gear was obtained from "TAKE OFF" in Germany. The reduction rate is 2.6 or 3.2 (I do not remember, I would have recherce on my invoice)
The engine has an output of 80 hp (there is this model with a power of 100 hp)
Excuzez my delay in responding.
Regards
Hello,Andrzej
Thank you,
Actually the oil cooler is too small.
I have been testing the ground with a two times larger oil cooler and it is insuffiant.
I will install a four times greater. I just bought
Regards
Guy
Yours oil cooler is to small , try to find cooler 4 tims more surface ..
I am flying with BMW in Stoll and tested many oil cooling configuration .
Regards
Guy the engine looks great. Have you tested your engine staticcally? How many pounds of thrust does the engine produce at full rpm? What type of prop and psru reduction?
