2,700 mile trip to Canyonlands UT with Les, Ken and Dave

On May 30, 2010, three pilots and three airplanes left California on a large loop through western United States. I flew my Zodiac 601 XL, Les flew his 701, and Ken flew his Challenger. Dave, who lives in Page Arizona and also has a Challenger and flew with us as we went through his area.

We flew for 6 days and took hundreds of pictures. It was a great trip.

MERCI DE NOUS FAIRE PARTAGER VOS VOLS ET CES MAGNIFIQUES IMAGES

Hello Mack,
Thanks for commenting on the pictures.
The salt flats were fun. The 701 and the Challenger got low enough to touch their wheels in the sand/salt. I don’t do those tricks in my 601. I took movies & pictures of them doing it though.
The weather was good. We had a high cloud layer which kept me from baking in my 601 toaster oven. Some of the pictures were a bit dull without the direct sun though.
My plane’s tail feathers are indeed fixed thanks to Doug Dugger at Quality Sport Planes in Cloverdale.

Steve, Thanks again for sharing your photos -- you have some beautiful shots! Did the salt flats and the great Salt Lake impress you? Those salt beds are so level and smooth that most land speed records are set there.
The canyon lands are especially beautiful this time of the year. It appears that this year is a better water year as Lake Powell water level has raised!
You must have replaced your tail feathers, because the last pix I saw of your bird, there was a slight bend in the repair after you got run over.
