Hi Ronald, I've got flying buddies in SA too, I actually took one of them to a float flight a couple of years ago here ;)

About the beanie: I do not have any hard performance data, unfortunately. The weather has prevented further testing, and I do not have the reference any more as I modified it....

However, there is a noticeable improvement. Less buffeting, better elevator response and reduced "sudden sink". The clear indication of all this is that the nose wheel stays nicely up in landings. Before it slammed onto runway every second time no matter how smoothly I tried to land. The elevator could not simply keep the nose up. Now it can!! The flare was also longer and when pulling the stick the nose just kept coming up - no more sudden sink, which can drop you down even before the runway.. But I have not taken it to the limit so these are just the initial feelings.

My personal opinion is that this is really worth of trying but there may be other aspects and naturally every builder makes the decisions by himself and also takes the responsibility.

The 701 is a great plane and for me the beanie makes it even greater.
