Bottom shim - note extra rivets. Drilling out rivets prior to shimming took too much material from plastic wingtip. Didn't think it was holding as tightly as new holes.

Hi Bob,  advice well taken, it would be very easy to become overly obsessive with some things on this particular aircraft.  I just want the plane to look as good as the floats!!

I had a similar issue. A word of caution... do not spend too much time chasing perfection. The MDRA inspector guy said I should be able to throw a pail of water in the airframe and have it drain all out. If you look closely at factory aircraft they all have this type of flaw... except the extreme fast pressurized type. IMHO.
