Hi Scott
They are 1/4 3x3. They are 10'. The plans I got plans from CH601.org . There are two 5' hinges so the hinge runs the entire length. Also look at Alex Roca's kit log. At his suggestion I put on skid-no-more paint to help grip parts. I got the paint from the local marine dealer.

Hi Richard,
What size of angle iron did you use to construct your brake and what is the total length?

Thanks,
Scott Sutton
