The rocket blasts through a frangible plastic cover which is provided by BRS.

The parachute is secured to the airframe at both of the top motor mounts on the cabin side of the firewall, and at 2 mild steel points behind the seats.

I mounted the battery at a distance aft that should offset the weight of the forward mounted BRS.  Since I put a 650 canopy on my XL, the aft-mounted BRS wasn't an option, unless I did something like have a side-eject or a downward-eject method.  I used the European XL plans as a guide and thus did the front mount.

I have not yet done a W&B, other than on paper, so I don't have real-world numbers to share yet.

Ideally, this will be like a helmet on a motorcycle, or seat belts on a car - it's there, but I hope I never need to use it.  It is more for my non-pilot wife, or other passengers, who would at least have a fighting chance if I ever have a heart attack or something while in flight.

Usually the area above the "rocket chute" is fabric. Painted you would never know unless you poked with your finger.

What's it secured to when it deploys? The firewall?

I have always wondered how these soft packs work.  When the rocket goes off  does it blow through the metal, or is this area covered with something else?
