Close-up of the female segment. The assembly is handy for keeping the canopy from opening so far that it rubs on the cowling. It will aslo prevent wind gust damage.

Great idea, simple and effective. I love it. Hope you don't mind if I copy it?
Keep a "seat belt cutter" handy in case a belt release ever fails to open.. it gets real hot stuck in the cockpit in the sun.
