Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
This is the 2005 CH601HD with Rotax 912A series aircraft that started my relationship with Zenair / Zenith kits. It has sat neglected in a hangar in Pembroke (30 miles away)for a year... un-flown :>( I was busy romancing the 2010 CH750 I built and caring for my father with ALS. After a 2 day inspection and pre-flight.... only 3 prop rotations and the engine fired right up. Great Odyssey PC680 battery never even needed charging. After a 30 minute test flight and several landing and the 5000 ft paved runway I head back to the Cobden 2,000 ft grass strip. My hangar in Cobden had been sitting empty since I sold my CH750 November 2013. I found myself laughing and enjoying the blue skies on the short flight to Cobden. The CH601HD is a very forgiving, gentle bird that any novice pilot could fly. Sadly DUS has to hibernate now as winter has her snowed in for the next 4 - 5 months. I wonder how much work it would be to convert her to a tail dragger for ski operations?
