CH701/CH750 Wheel Skis
Riveted together the insert is placed under a deflated tire, secured by safety wire and the tire re-inflated slightly to hold the insert plate in place. This is for deep power operation and as a self rescue device if you blunder into slush on a snow covered lake. There is about a 40% drag penalty for wheel penetration type skis, this insert from the scrap pile might be the difference between spending a cold night in the bush or your nice warm bed at home. These plans would make a pretty awesome set of straight skis. The only change I would make is moving the front ski rails inboard to mount between front forks using the 5/8" wheel axle.
