Moe's Fly-in on the Ottawa River attracted over 90 local aircraft...skis, wheel skis and just straight wheels. High wing or wing...even a couple helicopters.

The deeper the snow the shorter the field take-off. I guess the wheels digging into the snow crust makes more drag than I thought...deep fresh snow = shorter take-off distance. I saw Ice Pilots NWT and thought about you..they were flying DC3's on skis and  remember the pictures of your early TCA days.
