There is 3 ft of snow under my CH750 on wheel penetration skis. The skis sink 8 inches in the fresh snow... I sink to my knees on snow shoes. (I need to lose weight or get bigger snow shoes ;>)
The calculated flotation of the wheel penetration skis is 0.5 psi. Take-off is faster without using flaps. Flaps tend to force the nose down.... you want to lift the nose with power (rpm) and up elevator pressure. Once the nose ski lifts the CH750 accellerates and lifts off quickly.

Kevin there is a reason I hide out in Pheonix Az. for a couple weeks in February. Yesterday we had a "gaggle" of aircraft flying skis...CH750, 3 Quad City Challengers and a Citabria 7ECA. The Stinson 108 was busy installing skis, and there is usually another hallenger & ASAP Chinook that join us for the day. Landing in fields and farm strips is good (deep snow) but the lake ice is only 6 inches with the heavy snow causing slush or over-flow conditions.

Wow Bob, what a difference from here in New Zealand. If you lift your feet off the floor when taking off, you make the plane lighter. Excellent photo.
