You need a hinge at the front of the flap to allow open / close operation (control oil temp with oil cooler airflow). Sides are triangular "Z" pieces. Z bend toward inside at the top and outside at the bottom. This bottom part is the cowl full open "stop". The cross piece provides structure to the flap and a location for the control cable. Aircraft Spruce cable with a "twist to lock" ability. The bottom of the "Z" is not visable when installed in the cut cowling. You could also chose to rivet (2- A4 one each side) the flap open in the summer and closed in the winter. Be aware r when cowl is open or closed the rivet holes are not in the same spot
