Sounds like you have thought it through and have good ways to know if your ELT activates either in the air or on the ground. I doubt your inspector will take issue with it.
Hi Daniel,
My radio constantly monitors 121.5 so I will get an alert to check my remote switch. The switch has a guard on both sides so an accidental activation should be difficult. Also, my ELT has a small speaker that sounds off when the ELT is activated. I was not specifically concerned that I couldn't see the light directly.
If my "inspector" is not satisfied, I'll add another LED in parallel and put it on a blank space on the panel. The instrument panel is precious real estate, and the remote switch panel is not required to be there, but I do have to be able to reach the switch and that I can do easily and quickly.
At any rate, that was my rationale for its location.
Bill
How will you see the indicator light if accidentally activated? I have generally taken to the idea of locating the ELT remote away from all of my usual movements to prevent accidentally flipping the switch.
