Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
We've received word that Zenith builder/owner Steve Smith almost reached the "top of the world" yesterday in his Zenith CH601XL-B:
"Almost made the top of the Denali. I got up to 20,000. Needed about 500 more.
"Not sure where to next. The north slope is socked in for days out. I was told it will snow here next week. Probably time to head south."

Its been a few weeks since the above picture of my GPS track to Alaska was posted. I did make it home again. It was a fantastic trip. You can read more about it in a blog post here.
Here is a picture of the top of Denali. That is about as high as I got - approximately 19,800 ft.
You can view the other pictures from the trip here. The pictures are organized into sub-folders. To see other pictures from the flight around Denali look for the folder named 05 Denali Flight. If you like snow-covered mountains also look at the pictures in the folder named 06 Debra Flight.

Drove up & back 2x, 8,000 mi. R.T. ea. time, 16,000mi. (vs. km) via 2 diff. routes, know the country. Article in "Kitplanes" 2014 of Sonex flying up w/ many photos, routes, fuel stops. Vic Syracuse + another RV went up recently, intermittent IFR, holding over @ times similar to Steve. Author in Boulder (Colo.) has book out on how to fly the inside passages, as was speaker w/ video @ regional annual fly in a few back.
We can't wait to see photos from the trip and hear all about Steve's latest flying adventure.
