Dave, I like this idea a LOT, I saw it done on a friend of mines 701 but it was designed a bit different. I personally don't like the two controls joined together as they come from the factory. I even put a video about this problem about the 701 on YouTube. I build these 701 for a living and I'm looking for a really good design to incorporate into my work. Yours looks very solid. I just recently came up with a great design for a two stick system that is better than anything I have seen so far. Now it is just a matter of building it and making sure it works as good as I think it will. Great job on your part.
