Thanks for all the info.  I say (generally) "use it or lose it".  Better to enjoy your flying style and fix as necessary than put it on the shelf to admire it.

Best,

Joe

Zenith said this is the first they have heard of it. I got a hangar for the winter and wanted to add some "bush" stuff so while I had the plane in the hangar I looked for it because it happened before. This may be an isolated case because of the type of flying I do. However, it is not a "easy" place to inspect. One has to remove the belly hatch to look.

Whew.  Did they say whether this has happened to others? On the other hand, its nice to know that the plane bends rather than breaks.  Did you find it during a normal inspection or did something else cause you to look for it?

(Apologies for all the questions.)

Best,

Joe

I consistently fly "off airport". However this concerns me because it is the 2nd time this has happened. How? maybe I am overloaded. Why? Hard landing "off airport". When? Could of been anytime last summer. Any way I am working with Zenith to "beef up" the hat channel. (thicker material, and/or more stiffeners has been discussed)

Oh my gosh.

How?  Why? When?
