When building from plans only, progress comes one part at a time.

Tim, scratch building does take some time but if your like me making the finished part is really quick. (The first few attempts are what take the time.)
When I was scratch building my 701 I sometimes found the progress very slow, it would seem as if I was working on an assembly for a week or more with nothing to show for my efforts but a few bits of bent metal. Then, all of a sudden, in about five minutes the complete assembly would appear on my work table from the pile of parts I had been working on, almost as if by magic. Seeing a completed assembly made from parts you have shaped yourself leads to a real sense of accomplishment.
I built a STOL 750 kit with a friend but miss scratch building so much that I have a set of Cruzer plans on their way, should be here next week. I can't wait to start shaping aluminum and 4130 again.
